What is an associate AAA Member?

An associate member is someone you add to your existing AAA Membership. According to AAA, eligible associates include:

  • A spouse or domestic partner

  • Another adult living in the same household

  • Children living at home or away at school

Do AAA associate members get access to discounts?

Yes. AAA associate members get access to the same discounts and rewards as the primary member.

That means your added driver can take advantage of:

  • Retail and dining discounts at thousands of participating locations

  • Travel savings on hotels, car rentals and attraction tickets

  • Entertainment deals, including theme park tickets and concert access

These discounts are tied to AAA Membership status — and since associates are full members, they qualify automatically.

Want to stretch your savings even further? AAA associate members also get access to discounted eGift cards for popular retail and dining brands.

Can added drivers use AAA roadside assistance?

Yes. Roadside assistance coverage follows the member, not the vehicle. That means an associate member can call for help whether they're driving the family car, a friend's car or a rental.

Coverage typically includes:

  • Towing services

  • Battery jump-starts

  • Flat tire assistance

  • Fuel delivery

  • Lockout service

This is especially valuable for teen drivers or college students who may be navigating road emergencies for the first time.

How many service calls do associate members get per year?

Associate members receive 2 roadside service calls per year (primary members receive 4). This applies across all membership tiers, including Classic, Plus, Premier, Plus RV, Premier RV, and Motorcycle plans.

If you exceed your annual allotment, additional service calls may require an out-of-pocket fee. Tows will be to the closest responding facility at no extra charge, but tows to other destinations will be billed at prevailing towing rates.

What other benefits do AAA associates receive?

Beyond discounts and roadside assistance, associate members also have access to:

  • AAA travel services: Including personalized trip planning and virtual travel agents.

  • ProtectMyID: Free identity theft protection from Experian, including credit monitoring and fraud resolution support.

  • Insurance and financial services: Members can explore AAA-offered auto, home and life insurance, as well as banking products.

The full suite of benefits applies to every member on the account, associate or primary.

Adding an associate to your AAA Membership takes just a few minutes online, and the benefits start right away. Every member on your account — including associates — gets access to roadside assistance, thousands of discounts, travel perks and identity protection.
