Why is Hertz the only car rental company I see when searching for car reservations?

As our preferred partner, Hertz offers discounts to AAA members. After you enter your pick-up location and dates, you will see Hertz, Dollar, and Thirty car rentals for your location. If you wish to see other car rental companies, please select the car rental of choice from the list under “Rental Companies” on the left of the returned list. To go directly to Car Reservations, click here.

You may have several amenities checked. This will restrict the search results down to display only hotels that meet all of these requirements. Try selecting less or no amenities and see if this makes any difference as to the hotels returned. The selection is also reduced if you choose one or two different Diamond Rating or if you filter by Hotel Name or Chain. Therefore, if you do not get any results or very few results from your search, do not choose any diamond ratings or by Hotel Name or Chain. Another possibility is that you chose a city that does not have any hotels. Some cities are too small that they would not have any hotels, but the neighboring town may be the one that has the hotels.

For example, Keosauqua, IA does not appear in our hotel search; however, Fairfield, IA, which is approx. 20.5 miles from Keosauqua, IA, does have hotels in our reservation system. Therefore, if the city does not appear, enter a neighboring town or a large city close by. To go directly to Hotel Reservations, click here.

How can I find a hotel that accepts pets?

You can specify hotels that allow pets by entering “pet friendly” under the Optional Filters of the Hotel Reservation search screen. To go directly to Hotel Reservations, click here.

How do I enter international cities for a flight, car, or hotel reservations?

When searching for an international hotel, car or flight, start typing your city of interest and a list drops down with all locations for the city entered in the system. For example, “Athens” for Athens, Greece will look like below. To go directly to Hotel Reservations, click here. To go directly to Car Reservations, click here. To go directly to Flight Reservations, click here.

How do I give feedback about AAA Approved hotels or the AAA TourBook guide?

You can use our online form to submit concerns about hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, attractions or AAA publications (e.g., maps, TourBook guides).

How do I find the lowest airline fares on aaa.com?

The AAA.com reservation system gives you direct access to the same powerful database used by professional travel agents worldwide. The suggestions below will help you use the system to find the lowest fares. These guidelines are not absolute and may not apply in each and every situation but, by following them, you increase your likelihood of finding the right fare for you

Stay over a Saturday night:

Staying past midnight on Saturday night can result in significant savings. However, occasionally a low fare will be introduced that does not require a minimum stay. This usually occurs in shuttle markets such as San Francisco to Los Angeles, or Boston to Washington.

Buy in advance:

The advance purchase schedule spans from three days to 21 days or more. You usually can secure the least expensive domestic and international fares 21 days in advance. For domestic flights, there are 14-day advance fares, and airlines occasionally offer 3-day advance fares as well. Airlines generally allow you to purchase tickets up to 331 days in advance of travel.

Use the same carrier for all flight segments:

When making more than simple one-way or round-trip reservations, try to use the same airline for all segments of your trip. Choosing "no preference" as your airline preference is a good way to figure out which airlines offer flights for all segments of your trip. Many times on international itineraries, two or more airlines are necessary to cover all flight segments. This is an exception to the above rule, although even here you may benefit if you can find a consistent carrier.

Pick the right days of the week:

Travel on certain days of the week can be cheaper than on others. Currently, for most airlines, it's cheapest to fly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday (except when a Saturday night stay-over is required). If you have the flexibility, try modifying the dates to find the lowest fares available.

Avoid holidays:

Traveling during the holidays is often more expensive. Most airlines have blackout days around popular holidays. Not only are the fares more expensive, but often you cannot use frequent flyer miles during these periods. Ironically, the day of the actual holiday (e.g., December 25, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Sunday) is not commonly a blackout day and seats often are available right up to the last minute. Flying on the day of a major holiday can sometimes be a way around poor availability and expensive fares.

Consider frequent flyer programs:

Make sure that you are registered with the frequent flyer program of any airline that you fly. When making reservations, keep in mind that if you fly with the same airline, you can accumulate frequent flyer miles and be able to take advantage of the benefits offered with their frequent flyer programs.

While searching for air, car or hotel, my desired city had more than one listing. AAA.com responded with a list of choices, but I can’t seem to get the system to continue. Why?

When you input a city name without indicating a state, AAA.com may have more than one choice for that city. AAA.com will warn you by displaying a list of city options. In order to continue, you must click on your choice. After clicking on the city choice, scroll to the bottom of the page and continue your search.
