How long after purchasing a new membership or upgrading my membership will I be able to use the Roadside Assistance?
There is a three (3) day waiting period, after payment has been processed, before you can take advantage of your free AAA Roadside Assistance. This applies for all new and newly reinstated members and Associate members, as well as for members who upgrade from a lower level of service to a higher level of service. Should anyone on your membership account require AAA Roadside Assistance during the three-day waiting period, there will be a service fee that must be paid prior to service being rendered. Therefore, if you upgraded to Plus or Premier on the 15th of the month, the Plus or Premier benefits would not be in effect until the 18th. Since the Roadside Assistance benefits for the upgrade do not take effect for 3 days, you will still be able to use your current plan’s Roadside Assistance benefits.
For example:
If you upgrade from Classic to Plus or Premier, the Plus or Premier Roadside Assistance benefits become effective 3 days after payment in full has been processed; however, if needed, you will be able to use the Classic Roadside Assistance benefits for those 3 days. If you upgrade from Plus to Premier, the Premier Roadside Assistance benefits become effective 3 days after payment in full has been processed; however, if needed, you will be able to use the Plus Roadside Assistance benefits for those 3 days.

How do I get a new membership number if my AAA Membership card has been stolen?
Please contact our Member Services staff at 800.222.1134 and request a new membership number.
My membership number starts with 999-014 instead of 429-014, why can I not create a user id?
Membership numbers beginning with 999 014 instead of 429 014 indicate that you joined AAA from an AAA Discounts & Rewards partner’s website, e.g. Penske Truck Rental. This member number is only a temporary number until your application is processed within our club’s membership system. Once this process is completed, usually within a few days, you can call AAA Member Services at 800.222.1134 to obtain your permanent membership number.
Is an AAA membership based on the number of drivers or vehicles driven? In other words, do I buy one membership for each person, or each vehicle?
An AAA membership covers you in any car whether it is yours, borrowed, or a rental…even if you’re the passenger of a vehicle. Therefore, you should purchase a membership for you and add each family member whether they have a vehicle or not, as they would be covered in a friend’s vehicle.
Do I need to have a driver’s license in order to be an AAA Member and use the Roadside Assistance?
AAA Membership covers you, not the vehicle. Roadside assistance will be provided on any eligible vehicle that you are driving or riding in at the time of disablement when you present your valid AAA membership card. For example, if you are stranded with a friend in their vehicle and you call for service, we would help as long as you are present at the time of service.
If a company wanted to offer AAA Memberships to their employees, whom should they contact at AAA regarding corporate memberships?
The best option is to contact a local AAA Branch office to discuss membership options.
What would an existing AAA Member need to do to take advantage of their employer’s offer of AAA Memberships?
The best option is to contact a local AAA Branch office to discuss membership options.
