Summer in Marquette County comes alive with outdoor events, live entertainment, and endless opportunities to enjoy the shores of Lake Superior. Throughout June, visitors can experience community festivals, trail offerings, and waterfront attractions and take advantage of the area’s hiking, biking, paddling, and sightseeing opportunities.

Upper Peninsula Pride Fest

The Upper Peninsula Pride Fest, taking place this year on June 13 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, helps kick off the season. One of the largest events of its kind in the Upper Peninsula, the festival brings together friends, families, and visitors for a day of live entertainment, local vendors, food, beer and wine, community resources, and the annual drag show along the Lake Superior waterfront.

The Great Lakes Rodeo

Father’s Day weekend will see the Great Lakes Rodeo travel to Gwinn from June 19 to 20. The long-running event features bull riding, barrel racing, roping competitions, and live entertainment, drawing competitors and spectators from across the region.

Marquette Trails Fest

Outdoor recreation takes center stage during Marquette Trails Fest, June 26-28. The weekend includes mountain bike races, trail running events, group rides, and social gatherings that celebrate the area’s trail system and support the Noquemanon Trail Network. The event continues to showcase Marquette County as a standout destination for outdoor recreation across the Midwest.

Visitors can also catch Lasers on the Ore Dock throughout June, with shows taking place every two weeks on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The light show transforms the historic Lower Harbor Ore Dock into a large-scale projection display overlooking Lake Superior and has become one of Marquette County’s signature summer attractions.

Beyond the events calendar, summer in Marquette County offers easy access to waterfalls, inland lakes, scenic overlooks, and miles of shoreline along Lake Superior. Visitors can spend the day kayaking, hiking, or biking before exploring local restaurants, breweries, and shops throughout the county’s downtown districts.

Whether visiting for a weekend event or a longer summer trip, Marquette County offers a mix of outdoor recreation, local events, and waterfront scenery throughout the season.
