If you’re moving to a new state, you might need to transfer your AAA membership to the local regional club. AAA operates as a network of motor clubs, each serving specific states or areas, so your membership is managed by the club for your region.

How to transfer your AAA Membership from another state

Since you’re here on The AAA Auto Club Group’s (ACG) page, we assume you might be moving into our territory (Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin, North Carolina, South Carolina or Colorado) and looking for help with the transfer of your membership. If that’s the case, we’ve got you covered and will walk you through the steps below of how to transfer your membership.

How do I transfer my AAA Membership to The Auto Club Group?

To transfer your AAA Membership to ACG, you'll need to update your address information with your current AAA club, which will then initiate the transfer process to ACG. Since ACG is part of the larger AAA federation, your membership benefits will remain valid, though specific services might vary slightly by club. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Locate your current AAA club:

If you're unsure which club is yours, look for this information on your membership card or by contacting the AAA Member Service Center at 1-800-222-6424. You can also access your current AAA club by visiting online and entering your former home ZIP code. Once entered, you’ll be routed back to the AAA club you’re transferring from.

2. Initiate the transfer with your current AAA club:

Inform your current club that you're moving to a location within The Auto Club Group's territory and need assistance with the transfer.

3. Provide necessary information:

Be prepared to provide information such as name, address, membership number and membership expiration date.

4. The transfer process:

Your current AAA club will handle the transfer of your membership to ACG by updating your address in the system.

5. Confirmation and new membership materials:

Once the transfer is complete, you should receive confirmation from ACG, including details about your new membership and any relevant information about our territory’s specific services.

Note: Until you receive your new AAA Membership cards from The Auto Club Group, you’ll need to access your current AAA club for any Member-Only functions.

How do I change my address or phone number online?

Whether you’re moving in to or out of our territory or simply moving to a new address within the same territory, there’s an easy, fast way to change your personal information online.

For most AAA Members:

  1. Sign in to the AAA website by clicking Sign In at the top of any page.
  2. Navigate to My Account.
  3. Click My Profile on the left side of the screen.
  4. Select View Membership Profile Information.
  5. On the right side of the screen, update your address.
  6. Click Update Personal Information to save your changes.
  7. To update your phone number(s), go to Update Phone Numbers under My Profile and make the necessary changes.

For AAA Members in the Carolinas:

  1. Log in to your online account.
  2. Go to the Profile section and update your address information.
  3. If you enter an out-of-territory (OOT) address, indicate whether the change is temporary or permanent.

A member moving in North Carolina/South Carolina from another club can transfer their membership online if their expiration date is less than 70 days in the future. If it’s more than 70 days, they will receive a message with a phone number to call.

For AAA Members in Colorado:

  1. Sign in to the AAA website by clicking Sign In at the top of any page.
  2. Navigate to Profile at the top right of the screen.
  3. Select Manage AAA Membership.
  4. Click Edit Account Details on the right side menu.
  5. Click Edit next to How to Reach You.
  6. Update your address.

If you feel more comfortable making changes by phone, please call the number on the back of your AAA card, where a AAA Member Service Center representative will help you with your request.
