Every year about 40,000 people are killed in crashes on our nation’s roads. The leading causes? Speeding. Impaired driving. Distractions behind the wheel. Failing to wear a seatbelt. These are not just statistics — they’re preventable tragedies that affect real people: families, friends and neighbors.
That’s why AAA - The Auto Club Group is launching a powerful new campaign: “Crashes Hit Different.” At its core, it’s a call to action.
This new campaign aims to shine a light on four key causes of crashes, all of which are preventable:
• Speeding, which reduces your time to react and increases the severity of crashes.
• Distractions, which can have irreversible consequences.
• Impairment, which endangers everyone on the road.
• Seatbelts, which are simple, often-ignored life-saving tools.
AAA driver trainings and educations emphasize safe, responsible driving. Whether you’re a new driver preparing to hit the open road, or an experienced driver looking to stay sharp and safe, AAA is here for you!
At AAA, safety is high priority, especially at the beginning of someone’s driving journey. Learning and teaching to drive can be overwhelming, but parental involvement is key. Open, honest conversations — and communicating the ins and outs of navigating the roadway — makes life behind the wheel much safer for teens, and everyone else around them.

Safety Guide for Seniors
See our Traffic Safety Magazine edition catered to seasoned drivers for a creative way to learn about driver safety.
For years, AAA has understood and advocated for child passenger safety. In 2002, AAA launched a campaign called Seated, Safe and Secure to raise awareness of child passenger safety (CPS) and strengthen occupant protection laws for everyone under the age of 18. Today, AAA is still promoting the life-saving safety of child restraint systems.
AAA believes that closing the loopholes in existing state laws and educating about the proper use of safety seats and restraints for all children is essential to preventing child passenger injuries and deaths.
Even in 1902, when roads were just two ruts in dirt, AAA advocated for a national highway system. Now, we’ve become one of the nation’s most trusted names in Roadside Assistance, insurance and driver education—providing training and resources catered to you, accessible right here.
